If I have done evil to my friend, Or have plundered my enemy for no reason,

我若以恶报那与我交好的人（连那无故与我为敌的，我也救了他），

我若以恶回报我的朋友，连那无故与我为敌的，我也救了他，

我若以恶回报我的朋友，连那无故与我为敌的，我也救了他，

倘若我恩将仇报，无故抢夺仇敌，

如果我以恶回报那与我为友的人，或是无故掠夺与我为敌的人，

如果我恶待那与我和好的人，或是无故掠夺我的敌人，

我若以惡報那與我交好的人－連那無故與我為敵的，我也救了他，

我若以惡回報我的朋友，連那無故與我為敵的，我也救了他，

我若以惡回報我的朋友，連那無故與我為敵的，我也救了他，

倘若我恩將仇報，無故搶奪仇敵，

如果我以惡回報那與我為友的人，或是無故掠奪與我為敵的人，

我若以惡報那與我友好的人，或無緣無故劫掠與我為敵的人，

如果我惡待那與我和好的人，或是無故掠奪我的敵人，

與我交厚者、以惡報之、無端仇我者、反拯救之、

我若惡報與我交好之人、或搶奪無故與我為仇之人、

倘吾曾為此。有罪在雙腕。

if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—

Or I have done evil to my friend. Or I have robbed my enemy without any reason.

if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause,

if I have betrayed a friend or plundered my enemy without cause,

if I have done harm to one at peace with me or have plundered my adversary without cause,

If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause,

If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me( Yea, I have delivered him that without cause was mine adversary;)

if I have done harm to one at peace with me or have plundered my adversary without cause,

If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me;( yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)

or have wronged my ally, or helped his lawless enemy,

if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me( yes, I have delivered him who without cause was my adversary),

And David rebuked his men with these words and did not allow them to rise up against Saul. And Saul got up, left the cave, and went on his way.

He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has violated his covenant.

So they have repaid me evil for good, And hatred for my love.

Behold, this day your eyes have seen that the Lord had handed you over to me today in the cave, and someone said to kill you, but I spared you; and I said,‘ I will not reach out with my hand against my lord, because he is the Lord’s anointed.’So, my father, look! Indeed, look at the edge of your robe in my hand! For by the fact that I cut off the edge of your robe but did not kill you, know and understand that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands, and I have not sinned against you, though you are lying in wait for my life, to take it.May the Lord judge between you and me, and may the Lord take vengeance on you for me; but my hand shall not be against you.As the proverb of the ancients says,‘ Out of the wicked comes wickedness’; but my hand shall not be against you.After whom has the king of Israel gone out? Whom are you pursuing? A dead dog, a single flea?May the Lord therefore be judge and decide between you and me; and may He see and plead my cause and save me from your hand.”

The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests hearts.

They had just left the city, and were not far away, when Joseph said to his house steward,“ Up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them,‘ Why have you repaid evil for good?

But David said to Abishai,“ Do not kill him, for who can reach out with his hand against the Lord’s anointed and remain innocent?”David also said,“ As the Lord lives, the Lord certainly will strike him, or his day will come that he dies, or he will go down in battle and perish.The Lord forbid that I would reach out with my hand against the Lord’s anointed! But now please take the spear that is at his head and the jug of water, and let’s go.”So David took the spear and the jug of water that were at Saul’s head, and they left; and no one saw or knew about it, nor did anyone awaken, for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the Lord had fallen on them.Then David crossed over to the other side and stood on top of the mountain at a distance with a large area between them.And David called to the people and to Abner the son of Ner, saying,“ Will you not answer, Abner?” Then Abner replied,“ Who are you who calls to the king?”So David said to Abner,“ Are you not a man? And who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not guarded your lord the king? For one of the people came to kill the king your lord!This thing that you have done is not good. As the Lord lives, all of you undoubtedly must die, because you did not guard your lord, the Lord’s anointed. And now, see where the king’s spear is and the jug of water that was at his head!”Then Saul recognized David’s voice and said,“ Is this your voice, my son David?” And David said,“ It is my voice, my lord the king.”

Then Saul said,“ I have sinned. Return, my son David, for I will not harm you again since my life was precious in your sight this day. Behold, I have played the fool and have made a very great mistake.”

Then Ahimelech answered the king and said,“ And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, the king’s own son in law, who is commander over your bodyguard, and is honored in your house?

Should good be repaid with evil? For they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before You To speak good in their behalf, So as to turn Your wrath away from them.Therefore, give their children over to famine And turn them over to the power of the sword; And let their wives become childless and widowed. Let their men also be slaughtered to death, Their young men struck and killed by the sword in battle.

Then David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and he came and said to Jonathan,“ What have I done? What is my guilt? And what is my sin before your father, that he is seeking my life?”

And he said to David,“ You are more righteous than I; for you have dealt well with me, while I have dealt maliciously with you.You have declared today that you have done good to me, that the Lord handed me over to you and yet you did not kill me.Though if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away unharmed? May the Lord therefore reward you with good in return for what you have done to me this day.

Therefore behold, just as your life was highly valued in my sight this day, so may my life be highly valued in the sight of the Lord, and may He rescue me from all distress.”

Please forgive the offense of your slave; for the Lord will certainly make for my lord an enduring house, because my lord is fighting the battles of the Lord, and evil will not be found in you all your days.Should anyone rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, then the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living with the Lord your God; but the lives of your enemies He will sling out as from the hollow of a sling.

Then Jonathan spoke well of David to his father Saul and said to him,“ May the king not sin against his servant David, since he has not sinned against you, and since his deeds have been very beneficial to you.For he took his life in his hand and struck the Philistine, and the Lord brought about a great victory for all Israel; you saw it and rejoiced. Why then would you sin against innocent blood by putting David to death for no reason?”
