因主俯聽貧窮人、不輕棄因信主而被擄之人、

良善者將聞報而相慶兮。恃主者當歡欣而鼓舞。

The Lord hears the needy and does not despise his captive people.

The Lord hears those who are in need. He doesn’t forget his people in prison.

For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.

For the LORD listens to the needy and does not despise his own who are prisoners.

For Jehovah heareth the needy, And despiseth not his prisoners.

God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun scorched land.

They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them,

“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.

Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom, imprisoned in iron chains of misery.

When I think of all this, I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus for the benefit of you Gentiles...

to hear the groans of the prisoners, to release those condemned to die.

He will listen to the prayers of the destitute. He will not reject their pleas.

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.

My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken!“ I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.

He will rescue the poor when they cry to him; he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them.He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them.He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious to him.

Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring Peter out for public trial after the Passover.But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate.Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said,“ Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.Then the angel told him,“ Get dressed and put on your sandals.” And he did.“ Now put on your coat and follow me,” the angel ordered.So Peter left the cell, following the angel. But all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn’t realize it was actually happening.They passed the first and second guard posts and came to the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself. So they passed through and started walking down the street, and then the angel suddenly left him.Peter finally came to his senses.“ It’s really true!” he said.“ The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!”

The Lord replies,“ I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.”

He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners.

Because of the covenant I made with you, sealed with blood, I will free your prisoners from death in a waterless dungeon.Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles.

Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
