God is in his holy temple. He is a father to children whose fathers have died. He takes care of women whose husbands have died.

Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy.

Your rulers are rebels, friends of thieves. They all love graft and chase after bribes. They do not defend the rights of the fatherless, and the widow’s case never comes before them.

They have become fat and sleek. They have also excelled in evil matters. They have not taken up cases, such as the case of the fatherless, so they might prosper, and they have not defended the rights of the needy.

but I have built an exalted temple for you, a place for your dwelling forever.

This is what the LORD says: Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool. Where could you possibly build a house for me? And where would my resting place be?

For the High and Exalted One, who lives forever, whose name is holy, says this:“ I live in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and lowly of spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the oppressed.

“ There was a judge in a certain town who didn’t fear God or respect people.And a widow in that town kept coming to him, saying,‘ Give me justice against my adversary.’“ For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to himself,‘ Even though I don’t fear God or respect people,yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice, so that she doesn’t wear me out by her persistent coming.’”Then the Lord said,“ Listen to what the unjust judge says.Will not God grant justice to his elect who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay helping them?

May he vindicate the afflicted among the people, help the poor, and crush the oppressor.
