Because the hand of the Lord my God was on me, I took courage and gathered leaders from Israel to go up with me. (niv)

Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. He also gave him the plan for the chariot, that is, the cherubim of gold that spread their wings and overshadow the ark of the covenant of the Lord.“ All this,” David said,“ I have in writing as a result of the Lord’s hand on me, and he enabled me to understand all the details of the plan.”David also said to Solomon his son,“ Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.The divisions of the priests and Levites are ready for all the work on the temple of God, and every willing person skilled in any craft will help you in all the work. The officials and all the people will obey your every command.” (niv)

But the Lord said to my father David,‘ You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name.Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood— he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’ (niv)

You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and silver in place of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in place of stones. I will make peace your governor and well- being your ruler. (niv)

David said to Solomon:“ My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the Name of the Lord my God.But this word of the Lord came to me:‘ You have shed much blood and have fought many wars. You are not to build a house for my Name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign.He is the one who will build a house for my Name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’“ Now, my son, the Lord be with you, and may you have success and build the house of the Lord your God, as he said you would. At that time gifts will be brought to the Lord Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers— the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the Lord Almighty. (niv)

And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. (niv)

The city of Tyre will come with a gift, people of wealth will seek your favor. (niv)

May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores bring tribute to him. May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts.May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him. (niv)

Many brought offerings to Jerusalem for the Lord and valuable gifts for Hezekiah king of Judah. From then on he was highly regarded by all the nations. (niv)

“ Go and tell my servant David,‘ This is what the Lord says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in.I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another.Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their leaders whom I commanded to shepherd my people,“ Why have you not built me a house of cedar?”’“ Now then, tell my servant David,‘ This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel.I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men on earth.And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginningand have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also subdue all your enemies.“‘ I declare to you that the Lord will build a house for you:When your days are over and you go to be with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift— articles of silver and gold, robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules. (niv)

And all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the Lord.All Kedar’s flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will be accepted as offerings on my altar, and I will adorn my glorious temple.“ Who are these that fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests?Surely the islands look to me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, bringing your children from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.“ Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in anger I struck you, in favor I will show you compassion.Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations— their kings led in triumphal procession. “ The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods.But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him? (niv)
