For I hear what so many are saying, the terrifying news that comes from every direction. When they plot together against me, they figure out how they can take my life.But I trust in you, O LORD! I declare,“ You are my God!”You determine my destiny! Rescue me from the power of my enemies and those who chase me.

Listen, O God, to my prayer! Do not ignore my appeal for mercy!Pay attention to me and answer me! I am so upset and distressed, I am beside myself,

Those who anticipate my defeat attack me all day long. Indeed, many are fighting against me, O Exalted One.When I am afraid, I trust in you.In God– I boast in his promise– in God I trust, I am not afraid. What can mere men do to me?

O LORD, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my plea for help! Because of your faithfulness and justice, answer me!Do not sit in judgment on your servant, for no one alive is innocent before you.Certainly my enemies chase me. They smash me into the ground. They force me to live in dark regions, like those who have been dead for ages.

Hear me, O LORD, when I cry out! Have mercy on me and answer me!

The Lord said to Paul by a vision in the night,“ Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent,because I am with you, and no one will assault you to harm you, because I have many people in this city.”

Protect me as you would protect the pupil of your eye! Hide me in the shadow of your wings!Protect me from the wicked men who attack me, my enemies who crowd around me for the kill.

I have called on your name, O LORD, from the deepest pit.You heard my plea:“ Do not close your ears to my cry for relief!”

I sought the LORD’s help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
