仇敵環攻、如獅之吞噬、如火之燎原、斯世之人、齒若戈矢、舌若鋒刃兮。

我困於群獅間、臥於口吐火焰之人中、其人牙如槍如箭、舌如利刃、

自天降佑。莫使併吞。敵人肆虐。祈爾施恩。

I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts— men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.

Men who are like lions are all around me. I am forced to lie down among people who are like hungry animals. Their teeth are like spears and arrows. Their tongues are like sharp swords.

There is a generation whose teeth are like swords and whose molars are like knives to devour the poor from the earth and the needy from among the human race.

His words are as smooth as butter, but he harbors animosity in his heart. His words seem softer than oil, but they are really like sharp swords.

O Lord, how long are you going to just stand there and watch this? Rescue me from their destructive attacks; guard my life from the young lions!

Speaking recklessly is like the thrusts of a sword, but the words of the wise bring healing.

They sharpen their tongues like a sword; they aim their arrow, a slanderous charge,

Your tongue carries out your destructive plans; it is as effective as a sharp razor, O deceiver.

But if not, may fire blaze from Abimelech and consume the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo! May fire also blaze from the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo and consume Abimelech!”

He is like a lion that wants to tear its prey to bits, like a young lion crouching in hidden places.Rise up, LORD! Confront him! Knock him down! Use your sword to rescue me from the wicked man!

And the tongue is a fire! The tongue represents the world of wrongdoing among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the entire body and sets fire to the course of human existence– and is set on fire by hell.

Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow, so is the one who testifies against his neighbor as a false witness.

They open their mouths to devour me like a roaring lion that rips its prey.My strength drains away like water; all my bones are dislocated; my heart is like wax; it melts away inside me.The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery; my tongue sticks to my gums. You set me in the dust of death.Yes, wild dogs surround me– a gang of evil men crowd around me; like a lion they pin my hands and feet.

He had no injury of any kind, because he had trusted in his God.The king gave another order, and those men who had maliciously accused Daniel were brought and thrown into the lions’ den– they, their children, and their wives. They did not even reach the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

From his mouth extends a sharp sword, so that with it he can strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod, and he stomps the winepress of the furious wrath of God, the All- Powerful.

Like a roaring lion or a roving bear, so is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

He lies in ambush in a hidden place, like a lion in a thicket; he lies in ambush, waiting to catch the oppressed; he catches the oppressed by pulling in his net.

Look, they hurl insults at me and openly threaten to kill me, for they say,“ Who hears?”
