Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.

I answered,“ Sir, you know.” And he said,“ These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Do you rulers indeed speak justly? Do you judge people with equity?

David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there.

He came to the sheep pens along the way; a cave was there, and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave.

Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

Then David went out of the cave and called out to Saul,“ My lord the king!” When Saul looked behind him, David bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.
