They have set an ambush for me. Fierce enemies are out there waiting, Lord, though I have not sinned or offended them.I have done nothing wrong, yet they prepare to attack me. Wake up! Meanwhile, the leading priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be put to death.So the governor asked again,“ Which of these two do you want me to release to you?” The crowd shouted back,“ Barabbas!”Pilate responded,“ Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” They shouted back,“ Crucify him!”“ Why?” Pilate demanded.“ What crime has he committed?” But the mob roared even louder,“ Crucify him!”

This is because they have never known the Father or me.

Even my own brothers pretend they don’t know me; they treat me like a stranger.

My enemies surround me like a pack of dogs; an evil gang closes in on me. They have pierced my hands and feet.

May those who try to destroy me be humiliated and put to shame. May those who take delight in my trouble be turned back in disgrace.

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to God.
