They shall also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing.

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

When he was in distress, he appeased the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.When he prayed to Him, He was moved by him and heard his pleading, and brought him back to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord alone is God.

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

“ I hate, I reject your festivals, Nor do I delight in your festive assemblies.

and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

For this is what the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, says:“ I dwell in a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.

The Pharisee stood and began praying this in regard to himself:‘ God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, crooked, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to raise his eyes toward heaven, but was beating his chest, saying,‘ God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other one; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

For He has not despised nor scorned the suffering of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.

And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

He has turned His attention to the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer.

And the son said to him,‘ Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’But the father said to his slaves,‘ Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet;and bring the fattened calf, slaughter it, and let’s eat and celebrate;for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.“ Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.And he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be.And he said to him,‘ Your brother has come, and your father has slaughtered the fattened calf because he has received him back safe and sound.’But he became angry and was not willing to go in; and his father came out and began pleading with him.But he answered and said to his father,‘ Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours; and yet you never gave me a young goat, so that I might celebrate with my friends;but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.’And he said to him,‘ Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours.But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.’ ”

Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner!”And Jesus responded and said to him,“ Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he replied,“ Say it, Teacher.”“ A moneylender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred denarii, and the other, fifty.When they were unable to repay, he canceled the debts of both. So which of them will love him more?”Simon answered and said,“ I assume the one for whom he canceled the greater debt.” And He said to him,“ You have judged correctly.”And turning toward the woman, He said to Simon,“ Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.You gave Me no kiss; but she has not stopped kissing My feet since the time I came in.You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume.For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but the one who is forgiven little, loves little.”And He said to her,“ Your sins have been forgiven.”And then those who were reclining at the table with Him began saying to themselves,“ Who is this man who even forgives sins?”And He said to the woman,“ Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord anointed me To bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners;To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

since your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become an object of horror and a curse, and you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I have indeed heard you,’ declares the Lord.”

And both the Pharisees and the scribes began to complain, saying,“ This man receives sinners and eats with them.”And so He told them this parable, saying,“ What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the other ninety nine in the open pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?And when he has found it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing.And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them,‘ Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!’I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.

Utterly kill old men, young men, female virgins, little children, and women, but do not touch any person on whom is the mark; and you shall start from My sanctuary.” So they started with the elders who were before the temple.

Then the glory of the God of Israel ascended from the cherub on which it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed in linen at whose waist was the scribe’s kit.And the Lord said to him,“ Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and make a mark on the foreheads of the people who groan and sigh over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”
