You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.

You have given me only a few days to live. My whole life doesn’t seem like anything to you. No one lasts any longer than a breath. This is true even for those who feel secure.

You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.” Interlude

In fact, you have made my days just inches long, and my life span is as nothing to you. Yes, every human being stands as only a vapor. Selah

Behold, You have made my days like hand widths, And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Certainly all mankind standing is a mere breath. Selah

Behold, thou hast made my days as handbreadths; And my life- time is as nothing before thee: Surely every man at his best estate is altogether vanity.[ Selah

You, indeed, have made my days short in length, and my life span as nothing in Your sight. Yes, every mortal man is only a vapor. Selah

Behold, thou hast made my days[ as] an handbreadth; and mine age[ is] as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state[ is] altogether vanity. Selah.

Look, you make my days short-lived, and my life span is nothing from your perspective. Surely all people, even those who seem secure, are nothing but vapor.

Behold, you have made my days hand widths. My lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely every man stands as a breath.” Selah.

Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man!

Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.

yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh.The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.

Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning:

“ My days are swifter than a runner; they flee away; they see no good.They go by like skiffs of reed, like an eagle swooping on the prey.

“ Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble.He comes out like a flower and withers; he flees like a shadow and continues not.

Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.

When you discipline a man with rebukes for sin, you consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely all mankind is a mere breath! Selah

And Jacob said to Pharaoh,“ The days of the years of my sojourning are 130 years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their sojourning.”

All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.

My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle and come to their end without hope.

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
