Why should I fear when trouble comes, when enemies surround me?

and we have a priceless inheritance— an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription:“ The Lord knows those who are his,” and“ All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”

He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever.

And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.

But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.“ Then if anyone tells you,‘ Look, here is the Messiah,’ or‘ There he is,’ don’t believe it.For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will be clothed in burlap and will prophesy during those 1,260 days.”These two prophets are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of all the earth.If anyone tries to harm them, fire flashes from their mouths and consumes their enemies. This is how anyone who tries to harm them must die.

Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly.

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

All your people will be righteous. They will possess their land forever, for I will plant them there with my own hands in order to bring myself glory.

But the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgment coming.

May the bolts of your gates be of iron and bronze; may you be secure all your days.”

So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
