You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.

O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

He will redeem his soul from going down to the Pit, And his life shall see the light.

For You have delivered my soul from death. Have You not kept my feet from falling, That I may walk before God In the light of the living?

You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.

Indeed it was for my own peace That I had great bitterness; But You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, For You have cast all my sins behind Your back.For Sheol cannot thank You, Death cannot praise You; Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your truth.

For You have delivered my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from falling.

Then I said,‘ I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.’The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wrapped around my head.I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord, my God.

“ Man is also chastened with pain on his bed, And with strong pain in many of his bones,So that his life abhors bread, And his soul succulent food.His flesh wastes away from sight, And his bones stick out which once were not seen.Yes, his soul draws near the Pit, And his life to the executioners.
