豈可容群逆。得我乃心甘。盍視彼梟獍。對我長抨擊。妄證且咒詛。無所不用極。所幸未絕望。尚得自支撐。

My enemies want to harm me. So don’t turn me over to them. Witnesses who tell lies are rising up against me. They say all sorts of evil things about me.

Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence.

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death.But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward

The Lord protects and preserves them— they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.

Then they secretly persuaded some men to say,“ We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.They produced false witnesses, who testified,“ This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.

But Doeg the Edomite, who was standing with Saul’s officials, said,“ I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelek son of Ahitub at Nob.Ahimelek inquired of the Lord for him; he also gave him provisions and the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”

Now let my lord the king listen to his servant’s words. If the Lord has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. If, however, people have done it, may they be cursed before the Lord! They have driven me today from my share in the Lord’s inheritance and have said,‘ Go, serve other gods.’

Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. I was so obsessed with persecuting them that I even hunted them down in foreign cities.

See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me!
