The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

The rules of the Lord are right. They give joy to our hearts. The commands of the Lord shine brightly. They give light to our minds.

and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.

“ Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life,

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.

May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame.

If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

“ For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God.

For in my inner being I delight in God’s law;

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.

Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight.

that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the Lord.

I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.”

What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said,“ You shall not covet.”

Whenever they have a dispute, it is brought to me, and I decide between the parties and inform them of God’s decrees and instructions.”

I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors.

How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life.

Be joyful at your festival— you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites, the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns.

Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge.

See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it.Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say,“ Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.

Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees.

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because“ the righteous will live by faith.”The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says,“ The person who does these things will live by them.”Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

“ You came down on Mount Sinai; you spoke to them from heaven. You gave them regulations and laws that are just and right, and decrees and commands that are good.

Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.

I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

because Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.”

And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,

Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies.I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.

So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.

Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God;if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law;if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark,an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth—

May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees.

You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?

Then to the place the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name— there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the Lord.And there rejoice before the Lord your God— you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites from your towns who have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

And rejoice before the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name— you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, the Levites in your towns, and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows living among you.

Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.
