不喜馬力、不悅人股兮、

維馬有力、人能疾趨、主不以為悅兮、

馬有大力、非主所悅、人能疾行、非主所喜、

戰馬徒有力。佳兵安足恃。戰馬與佳兵。皆非主所喜。

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;

He doesn’t take pleasure in the strength of horses. He doesn’t take delight in the strong legs of warriors.

His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,

He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might.

He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; he does not value the power of a warrior.

He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.

He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord. (niv)

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. (niv)

Now Asahel was as fleet-footed as a wild gazelle.He chased Abner, turning neither to the right nor to the left as he pursued him.Abner looked behind him and asked,“ Is that you, Asahel?”“ It is,” he answered.Then Abner said to him,“ Turn aside to the right or to the left; take on one of the young men and strip him of his weapons.” But Asahel would not stop chasing him.Again Abner warned Asahel,“ Stop chasing me! Why should I strike you down? How could I look your brother Joab in the face?”But Asahel refused to give up the pursuit; so Abner thrust the butt of his spear into Asahel’s stomach, and the spear came out through his back. He fell there and died on the spot. And every man stopped when he came to the place where Asahel had fallen and died. (niv)
