I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.

I serve you, so help me to understand what is right. Then I will understand your covenant laws.

Yes, LORD! I am indeed your servant; I am your lowest slave. You saved me from death.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show his works done in the gentleness that wisdom brings.But if you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth.Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical.

Give me understanding so that I might observe your law, and keep it with all my heart.

I belong to you. Deliver me! For I seek your precepts.

But now, freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him.

Remove me from the path of deceit! Graciously give me your law!

The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD, and acknowledging the Holy One is understanding.

In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you.

Think about what I am saying and the Lord will give you understanding of all this.

Open my eyes so I can truly see the marvelous things in your law!I am like a foreigner in this land. Do not hide your commands from me!

That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him,“ Tell me what I should give you.”Solomon replied to God,“ You demonstrated great loyalty to my father David and have made me king in his place.Now, LORD God, may your promise to my father David be realized, for you have made me king over a great nation as numerous as the dust of the earth.Now give me wisdom and discernment so I can effectively lead this nation. Otherwise no one is able to make judicial decisions for this great nation of yours.”

The wisdom of the shrewd person is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deception.

Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as if it were coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God,who made us adequate to be servants of a new covenant not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Turn toward me and have mercy on me! Give your servant your strength! Deliver your slave!

Teach me proper discernment and understanding! For I consider your commands to be reliable.
