Of course, they didn’t know that Joseph understood them, for he had been speaking to them through an interpreter.

In fact, it was on the last day of the 430th year that all the Lord’s forces left the land.On this night the Lord kept his promise to bring his people out of the land of Egypt. So this night belongs to him, and it must be commemorated every year by all the Israelites, from generation to generation.

He will make a highway for the remnant of his people, the remnant coming from Assyria, just as he did for Israel long ago when they returned from Egypt.

“ In honor of the Lord your God, celebrate the Passover each year in the early spring, in the month of Abib, for that was the month in which the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night.

“ I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.

So the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and powerful arm, with overwhelming terror, and with miraculous signs and wonders.
