But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Someone came and reported to them,“ Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple complex and teaching the people.”

Right away he and all his family were baptized.He brought them into his house, set a meal before them, and rejoiced because he had believed God with his entire household.When daylight came, the chief magistrates sent the police to say,“ Release those men!”The jailer reported these words to Paul:“ The magistrates have sent orders for you to be released. So come out now and go in peace.”But Paul said to them,“ They beat us in public without a trial, although we are Roman citizens, and threw us in jail. And now are they going to smuggle us out secretly? Certainly not! On the contrary, let them come themselves and escort us out!”Then the police reported these words to the magistrates. They were afraid when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens.So they came and apologized to them, and escorting them out, they urged them to leave town.After leaving the jail, they came to Lydia’s house where they saw and encouraged the brothers, and departed.

After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his prosperity and doubled his previous possessions.All his brothers, sisters, and former acquaintances came to his house and dined with him in his house. They sympathized with him and comforted him concerning all the adversity the Lord had brought on him. Each one gave him a qesitah and a gold earring.So the Lord blessed the last part of Job’s life more than the first. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.

Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the cell. Striking Peter on the side, he woke him up and said,“ Quick, get up!” Then the chains fell off his wrists.“ Get dressed,” the angel told him,“ and put on your sandals.” And he did so.“ Wrap your cloak around you,” he told him,“ and follow me.”So he went out and followed, and he did not know that what took place through the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.After they passed the first and second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went outside and passed one street, and immediately the angel left him.

God provides homes for those who are deserted. He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious live in a scorched land.

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord shines over you.For look, darkness covers the earth, and total darkness the peoples; but the Lord will shine over you, and His glory will appear over you.Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your radiance.

If people are bound with chains and trapped by the cords of affliction,
