For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity.

The stones of your destroyed city are priceless to us. Even its dust brings deep concern to us.

For your servants hold her stones dear and have pity on her dust.

For your people love every stone in her walls and cherish even the dust in her streets.

For your servants take delight in its stones and favor its dust.

Surely Your servants take pleasure in her stones, And feel pity for her dust.

and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said,“ What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble— burned as they are?” (niv)

O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple, they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble. (niv)

So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart. (niv)

If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy. (niv)

They said to me,“ Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.” (niv)

Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites— everyone whose heart God had moved— prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. (niv)

When the seventh month came and the Israelites had settled in their towns, the people assembled together as one in Jerusalem.Then Joshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, in accordance with what is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices. (niv)

Praise be to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who has put it into the king’s heart to bring honor to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem in this way (niv)

Then I said to them,“ You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” (niv)

for they have devoured Jacob and devastated his homeland.Do not hold against us the sins of past generations; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need.Help us, God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake.Why should the nations say,“ Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants. (niv)

Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us. (niv)

Meanwhile, the people in Judah said,“ The strength of the laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall.” (niv)

but I said to the king,“ May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” (niv)
