He says,“ Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!”

Your hands made me and formed me. Give me understanding so that I might learn your commands.

For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

So then let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator as they do good.

Now this is eternal life– that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

Then they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them, and that they are my people, the house of Israel, declares the sovereign LORD.And you, my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are my people, and I am your God, declares the sovereign LORD.’”

You have been taught that the LORD alone is God– there is no other besides him.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?For you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.

For you were going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

“ Your hands have shaped me and made me, but now you destroy me completely.Remember that you have made me as with the clay; will you return me to dust?Did you not pour me out like milk, and curdle me like cheese?You clothed me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews.You gave me life and favor, and your intervention watched over my spirit.“ But these things you have concealed in your heart; I know that this is with you:

Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb.I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You knew me thoroughly;my bones were not hidden from you, when I was made in secret and sewed together in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb. All the days ordained for me were recorded in your scroll before one of them came into existence.How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total!If I tried to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. Even if I finished counting them, I would still have to contend with you.If only you would kill the wicked, O God! Get away from me, you violent men!They rebel against you and act deceitfully; your enemies lie.O LORD, do I not hate those who hate you, and despise those who oppose you?I absolutely hate them, they have become my enemies!Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns!See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path!

Then we, your people, the sheep of your pasture, will continually thank you. We will tell coming generations of your praiseworthy acts.

Today realize and carefully consider that the LORD is God in heaven above and on earth below– there is no other!

Let Israel rejoice in their Creator! Let the people of Zion delight in their king!

Formerly when you did not know God, you were enslaved to beings that by nature are not gods at all.But now that you have come to know God( or rather to be known by God), how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless basic forces? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?

Now, O LORD our God, rescue us from his power, so that all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you, LORD, are the only God.”

Yet he brought out his people like sheep; he led them through the wilderness like a flock.

Go up on a high mountain, O herald Zion! Shout out loudly, O herald Jerusalem! Shout, don’t be afraid! Say to the towns of Judah,“ Here is your God!”Look, the sovereign LORD comes as a victorious warrior; his military power establishes his rule. Look, his reward is with him; his prize goes before him.Like a shepherd he tends his flock; he gathers up the lambs with his arm; he carries them close to his heart; he leads the ewes along.

So realize that the LORD your God is the true God, the faithful God who keeps covenant faithfully with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

When it was time for the evening offering, Elijah the prophet approached the altar and prayed:“ O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are the true God and that you are winning back their allegiance.”Then fire from the LORD fell from the sky. It consumed the offering, the wood, the stones, and the dirt, and licked up the water in the trench.When all the people saw this, they threw themselves down with their faces to the ground and said,“ The LORD is the true God! The LORD is the true God!”

We existed from ancient times, but you did not rule over them, they were not your subjects.

Give a shepherd’s care to God’s flock among you, exercising oversight not merely as a duty but willingly under God’s direction, not for shameful profit but eagerly.And do not lord it over those entrusted to you, but be examples to the flock.Then when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that never fades away.

“ I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me–just as the Father knows me and I know the Father– and I lay down my life for the sheep.I have other sheep that do not come from this sheepfold. I must bring them too, and they will listen to my voice, so that there will be one flock and one shepherd.

“‘ For this is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I myself will search for my sheep and seek them out.

This very day the LORD will deliver you into my hand! I will strike you down and cut off your head. This day I will give the corpses of the Philistine army to the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the land. Then all the land will realize that Israel has a Godand all this assembly will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves! For the battle is the LORD’s, and he will deliver you into our hand.”

But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep.My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from my hand.

Why, O God, have you permanently rejected us? Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture?Remember your people whom you acquired in ancient times, whom you rescued so they could be your very own nation, as well as Mount Zion, where you dwell!

The LORD is the only true God. He is the living God and the everlasting King. When he shows his anger the earth shakes. None of the nations can stand up to his fury.

Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.I know that after I am gone fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.

His people remembered the ancient times. Where is the one who brought them up out of the sea, along with the shepherd of his flock? Where is the one who placed his holy Spirit among them,

For God, who said“ Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

For the LORD is a great God, a great king who is superior to all gods.

Is it good for you to oppress, to despise the work of your hands, while you smile on the schemes of the wicked?

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

For as I went around and observed closely your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:‘ To an unknown god.’ Therefore what you worship without knowing it, this I proclaim to you.The God who made the world and everything in it, who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands,

So remember your Creator in the days of your youth– before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you will say,“ I have no pleasure in them”;

They say,“ We speak persuasively; we know how to flatter and boast. Who is our master?”
