For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord.

飽其欲而自矜、取不義而自足、於耶和華而欺之兮。

惡人得其所欲、即自誇張、得不義之財而感謝主、反輕褻主、

驕矜自慢兮。目無主宰。刼奪人財兮。逍遙法外。

He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.

He brags about what his heart desires. He speaks well of those who always want more. He attacks the Lord with his words.

For they brag about their evil desires; they praise the greedy and curse the Lord.

For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings; the one who is greedy curses and despises the LORD.

For the wicked boasts of his soul’s desire, And the greedy person curses and shows disrespect to the Lord.

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.

For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, And the covetous renounceth, yea, contemneth Jehovah.

For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings; the one who is greedy curses and despises the Lord.

For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous,[ whom] the LORD abhorreth.

Yes, the wicked man boasts because he gets what he wants; the one who robs others curses and rejects the LORD.

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s cravings. He blesses the greedy and condemns Yahweh.

They pour out their arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.

But you have eyes and heart only for your dishonest gain, for shedding innocent blood, and for practicing oppression and violence.”

Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed?Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?Your rich men are full of violence; your inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

And I will say to my soul,“ Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’

those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?

Those who buy them slaughter them and go unpunished, and those who sell them say,‘ Blessed be the Lord, I have become rich,’ and their own shepherds have no pity on them.For I will no longer have pity on the inhabitants of this land, declares the Lord. Behold, I will cause each of them to fall into the hand of his neighbor, and each into the hand of his king, and they shall crush the land, and I will deliver none from their hand.”So I became the shepherd of the flock doomed to be slaughtered by the sheep traders. And I took two staffs, one I named Favor, the other I named Union. And I tended the sheep.In one month I destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me.

Their graves are their homes forever, their dwelling places to all generations, though they called lands by their own names.Man in his pomp will not remain; he is like the beasts that perish.This is the path of those who have foolish confidence; yet after them people approve of their boasts. Selah

You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

“‘ Whom have you mocked and reviled? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes to the heights? Against the Holy One of Israel!

A merchant, in whose hands are false balances, he loves to oppress.Ephraim has said,“ Ah, but I am rich; I have found wealth for myself; in all my labors they cannot find in me iniquity or sin.”

And Saul said,“ May you be blessed by the Lord, for you have had compassion on me.

They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive against them.

“ If I have made gold my trust or called fine gold my confidence,

The enemy said,‘ I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’

Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain I was angry, I struck him; I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.

And he said to them,“ Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

And I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols, and my soul will abhor you.

Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous( that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Come now, you who say,“ Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—

and said,“ What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?” And they paid him thirty pieces of silver.And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him.

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day.

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him.And he said to them,“ You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

They open wide their mouths against me; they say,“ Aha, Aha! Our eyes have seen it!”

But he does not so intend, and his heart does not so think; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few;for he says:“ Are not my commanders all kings?Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?As my hand has reached to the kingdoms of the idols, whose carved images were greater than those of Jerusalem and Samaria,shall I not do to Jerusalem and her idols as I have done to Samaria and her images?”

For though, while he lives, he counts himself blessed— and though you get praise when you do well for yourself—

nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

“ Woe to him who gets evil gain for his house, to set his nest on high, to be safe from the reach of harm!

“ The Lord saw it and spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.

one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying,‘ I shall be safe, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.’ This will lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike.

They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.

As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
