免得把你的尊榮交給別人，把你的歲月交給殘忍的人；

免爾尊榮畀他人、歲月供殘暴、

恐爾精力為之漸耗、恐爾壽齡為之日促、

恐爾之榮榮或作精力為他人所敗、恐爾之年為殘忍者所促、

lest you lose your honor to others and your dignity to one who is cruel,

If you do, you will lose your honor to other people. You will give your self- respect to someone who is mean.

lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless,

If you do, you will lose your honor and will lose to merciless people all you have achieved.

Otherwise, you will give up your vitality to others and your years to someone cruel;

Otherwise you will give your vigor to others, And your years to the cruel one;

Lest thou give thine honor unto others, And thy years unto the cruel;

Otherwise, you will give up your vitality to others and your years to someone cruel;

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

Then Judah said,“ Let her take them for herself, lest we be shamed; for I sent this young goat and you have not found her.”And it came to pass, about three months after, that Judah was told, saying,“ Tamar your daughter-in-law has played the harlot; furthermore she is with child by harlotry.” So Judah said,“ Bring her out and let her be burned!”When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying,“ By the man to whom these belong, I am with child.” And she said,“ Please determine whose these are— the signet and cord, and staff.”So Judah acknowledged them and said,“ She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again.

Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him, and his strength left him.And she said,“ The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” So he awoke from his sleep, and said,“ I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison.

Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved of his God; and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless pagan women caused even him to sin.

They offer sacrifices on the mountaintops, And burn incense on the hills, Under oaks, poplars, and terebinths, Because their shade is good. Therefore your daughters commit harlotry, And your brides commit adultery.“ I will not punish your daughters when they commit harlotry, Nor your brides when they commit adultery; For the men themselves go apart with harlots, And offer sacrifices with a ritual harlot. Therefore people who do not understand will be trampled.

So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; Whoever touches her shall not be innocent.People do not despise a thief If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving.Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold; He may have to give up all the substance of his house.Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; He who does so destroys his own soul.Wounds and dishonor he will get, And his reproach will not be wiped away.For jealousy is a husband’s fury; Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.He will accept no recompense, Nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts.
