昔我在父前為佳兒、我母視我幼稚、獨為可愛、

我昔幼稚、父母鍾愛、

我幼弱時、父愛我、母慈我、猶獨生之子、

For I too was a son to my father, still tender, and cherished by my mother.

I, too, was once a young boy in my father’s house. And my mother loved me deeply.

When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother,

For I, too, was once my father’s son, tenderly loved as my mother’s only child.

When I was a son with my father, tender and precious to my mother,

When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,

When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,

For I was a son unto my father, Tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

When I was a son with my father, tender and precious to my mother,

For I was my father’s son, tender and only[ beloved] in the sight of my mother.

For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.

David said,“ My son Solomon is just an inexperienced young man, and the temple to be built for the LORD must be especially magnificent so it will become famous and be considered splendid by all the nations. Therefore I will make preparations for its construction.” So David made extensive preparations before he died.

King David said to the entire assembly:“ My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is just an inexperienced young man, and the task is great, for this palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.

LORD, we know that people do not control their own destiny. It is not in their power to determine what will happen to them.

“ I will pour out on the kingship of David and the population of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication so that they will look to me, the one they have pierced. They will lament for him as one laments for an only son, and there will be a bitter cry for him like the bitter cry for a firstborn.

So David comforted his wife Bathsheba. He went to her and had marital relations with her. She gave birth to a son, and David named him Solomon. Now the LORD loved the childand sent word through Nathan the prophet that he should be named Jedidiah for the LORD’s sake.

Visit King David and say to him,‘ My master, O king, did you not solemnly promise your servant,“ Surely your son Solomon will be king after me; he will sit on my throne”? So why has Adonijah become king?’While you are still there speaking to the king, I will arrive and verify your report.”So Bathsheba visited the king in his private quarters.( The king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.)Bathsheba bowed down on the floor before the king. The king said,“ What do you want?”She replied to him,“ My master, you swore an oath to your servant by the LORD your God,‘ Solomon your son will be king after me and he will sit on my throne.’

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

These were the sons born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon– the mother of these four was Bathsheba the daughter of Ammiel.
