我兒，要聽從你父親的教訓，不可離棄你母親的訓誨。

正如你們知道的，我們是怎樣好像父親對待兒女一樣對待你們各人：勸勉你們，鼓勵你們，叮囑你們，要你們行事為人，配得上那召你們進入他的國和榮耀的神。

我兒，如果你接受我的話，把我的誡命珍藏在心裡，留心聽智慧，致力求聰明；如果你為求哲理而呼喊，為求聰明而揚聲；如果你尋找它如同尋找銀子，搜尋它好像搜尋寶藏；你就明白怎樣敬畏耶和華，並且獲得對神的認識。

孩子們！你們要來聽我；我要教導你們敬畏耶和華。

因此，我們必須更加密切注意所聽過的道理，免得我們隨流失去。

孩子們，現在你們要聽從我；持守我道路的，是有福的。你們要聽從教訓，要作智慧人，不可離棄教訓。聽從我，天天在我門口警醒仰望，在我門框旁邊守候的人，是有福的。因為找到我的，就找到生命，他也必得著耶和華的恩惠。得罪我的，是傷害自己；凡是恨惡我的，就是喜愛死亡。”

你要聽勸告，受管教，好使你將來作個有智慧的人。

你要留心聽智慧人的言語，專心領受我的知識。

我兒，要留心聽我的智慧，側耳聽我的哲理，

要對智慧說：“你是我的姊妹”，要稱呼聰明為親人；

我兒，要謹守你父親的誡命，不可離棄你母親的訓誨。要把它們常常繫在你的心上，綁在你的頸項上。你行走的時候，它們必引導你；你睡覺的時候，它們必保護你；你醒來的時候，它們必和你交談。因為誡命是燈，訓誨是光，出於管教的責備是生命之道，
