No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.

It is not in heaven, that you should say,‘ Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not split open under them.

Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering.All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?An idol! A craftsman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and casts for it silver chains.He who is too impoverished for an offering chooses wood that will not rot; he seeks out a skillful craftsman to set up an idol that will not move.Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown, scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth, when he blows on them, and they wither, and the tempest carries them off like stubble.To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One.Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing.Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel,“ My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”?Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?

But the righteousness based on faith says,“ Do not say in your heart,‘ Who will ascend into heaven?’”( that is, to bring Christ down)

His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.

Therefore it says,“ When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”( In saying,“ He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth?He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Then Moses said to God,“ If I come to the people of Israel and say to them,‘ The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me,‘ What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?”God said to Moses,“ I am who I am.” And he said,“ Say this to the people of Israel:‘ I am has sent me to you.’”God also said to Moses,“ Say this to the people of Israel:‘ The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.

Or who stretched the line upon it?On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone,when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?“ Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb,when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band,and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors,and said,‘ Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?“ Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place,that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?It is changed like clay under the seal, and its features stand out like a garment.From the wicked their light is withheld, and their uplifted arm is broken.“ Have you entered into the springs of the sea, or walked in the recesses of the deep?Have the gates of death been revealed to you, or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth? Declare, if you know all this.“ Where is the way to the dwelling of light, and where is the place of darkness,that you may take it to its territory and that you may discern the paths to its home?You know, for you were born then, and the number of your days is great!“ Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail,which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?What is the way to the place where the light is distributed, or where the east wind is scattered upon the earth?“ Who has cleft a channel for the torrents of rain and a way for the thunderbolt,to bring rain on a land where no man is, on the desert in which there is no man,to satisfy the waste and desolate land, and to make the ground sprout with grass?“ Has the rain a father, or who has begotten the drops of dew?From whose womb did the ice come forth, and who has given birth to the frost of heaven?The waters become hard like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.“ Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion?Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or can you guide the Bear with its children?Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth?“ Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that a flood of waters may cover you?Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you,‘ Here we are’?Who has put wisdom in the inward parts or given understanding to the mind?Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can tilt the waterskins of the heavens,when the dust runs into a mass and the clods stick fast together?“ Can you hunt the prey for the lion, or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,when they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in their thicket?Who provides for the raven its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and wander about for lack of food?

In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.Here is the sea, great and wide, which teems with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great.There go the ships, and Leviathan, which you formed to play in it.These all look to you, to give them their food in due season.When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works,who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke!I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more! Bless the Lord, O my soul! Praise the Lord!

“ If you are not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, the Lord your God,

In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called:‘ The Lord is our righteousness.’

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.

You ascended on high, leading a host of captives in your train and receiving gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that the Lord God may dwell there.

I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the Lord I did not make myself known to them.
