“ The eye that mocks a father, that scorns an aged mother, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures.

those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth;those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful;those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth and the needy from among mankind.

“ Cursed is anyone who dishonors their father or mother.” Then all the people shall say,“ Amen!”

And you do many things like that.”

They shall say to the elders,“ This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

For God said,‘ Honor your father and mother’ and‘ Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is‘ devoted to God,’they are not to‘ honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
