好生气的人挑起争端，暴怒的人多多犯错。

纷争掀起，如同缺口的水；因此，争端尚未爆发就当制止。

若是可行，总要尽力与众人和睦。各位亲爱的，不要自己伸冤，宁可给主的愤怒留地步，因为经上记着：“主说：‘伸冤在我，我必报应。’”不但如此，“你的仇敌若饿了，就给他吃；若渴了，就给他喝。因为你这样做，就是把炭火堆在他的头上。”不要被恶所胜，反要以善胜恶。

愚昧人的嘴唇挑起争端，一开口就招鞭打。

不要冒失出去与人争讼，免得你的邻舍羞辱你，最后你就不知怎么做。要与邻舍争辩你的案情，不可泄漏他人的隐密，

主的仆人不可争辩，只要温和待人，善于教导，恒心忍耐，

但是我告诉你们：不要与恶人作对。有人打你的右脸，连另一边也转过去由他打。有人想要告你，要拿你的里衣，连外衣也由他拿去。有人强迫你走一里路，你就跟他走二里。

你们竟然有弟兄去告弟兄，而且告到不信主的人面前。你们彼此告状，这已经是你们的大错了。为什么不情愿受冤屈呢？为什么不情愿吃亏呢？你们反倒去冤枉人，亏负人，况且所冤枉所亏负的就是弟兄。
