Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that[ is] before Jordan.And it shall be,[ that] thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that[ is] before Jordan.And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which[ belongeth] to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman[ was] there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.And as she was going to fetch[ it], he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.And she said,[ As] the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I[ am] gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go[ and] do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring[ it] unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day[ that] the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat[ many] days.[ And] the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.And it came to pass after these things,[ that] the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou[ art] a man of God,[ and] that the word of the LORD in thy mouth[ is] truth.

And when he saw[ that], he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which[ belongeth] to Judah, and left his servant there.

And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

When the ear heard[ me], then it blessed me; and when the eye saw[ me], it gave witness to me:Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and[ him that had] none to help him.The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment[ was] as a robe and a diadem.I was eyes to the blind, and feet[ was] I to the lame.I[ was] a father to the poor: and the cause[ which] I knew not I searched out.And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply[ my] days as the sand.My root[ was] spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.My glory[ was] fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obededom with joy.And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.And David[ was] clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also[ had] upon him an ephod of linen.Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that[ there is] neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.

And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king.And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day,[ even] a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams,[ and] a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed[ him] unto the LORD[ to be] the chief governor, and Zadok[ to be] priest.

And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;( Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and[ in] mountains, and[ in] dens and caves of the earth.

There is an evil[ which] I have seen under the sun, as an error[ which] proceedeth from the ruler:Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.

And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days: and they kept[ other] seven days with gladness.For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.So there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel[ there was] not the like in Jerusalem.Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came[ up] to his holy dwelling place,[ even] unto heaven.

But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;Saying, Blessed[ be] the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

Woe to thee, O land, when thy king[ is] a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
