In the house of the righteous[ is] much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

[ There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded[ to be given] to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.But in all this[ time] was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the chamber.Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense.And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given[ them]: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them[ was] Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office[ was] to distribute unto their brethren.

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge[ are] a precious jewel.

Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the brass could not be found out.And Solomon made all the vessels that[ were for] the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon the shewbread[ was set];Moreover the candlesticks with their lamps, that they should burn after the manner before the oracle, of pure gold;And the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs,[ made he of] gold,[ and] that perfect gold;And the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers,[ of] pure gold: and the entry of the house, the inner doors thereof for the most holy[ place], and the doors of the house of the temple,[ were of] gold.

Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for[ things to be made] of gold, and the silver for[ things] of silver, and the brass for[ things] of brass, the iron for[ things] of iron, and wood for[ things] of wood; onyx stones, and[ stones] to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver,[ which] I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,[ Even] three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses[ withal]:The gold for[ things] of gold, and the silver for[ things] of silver, and for all manner of work[ to be made] by the hands of artificers. And who[ then] is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.And they with whom[ precious] stones were found gave[ them] to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.For he had dominion over all[ the region] on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where[ the officers] were, every man according to his charge.

For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where[ are] the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.

And over the king’s treasures[ was] Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles,[ was] Jehonathan the son of Uzziah:And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground[ was] Ezri the son of Chelub:And over the vineyards[ was] Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars[ was] Zabdi the Shiphmite:And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that[ were] in the low plains[ was] Baalhanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil[ was] Joash:And over the herds that fed in Sharon[ was] Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds[ that were] in the valleys[ was] Shaphat the son of Adlai:Over the camels also[ was] Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses[ was] Jehdeiah the Meronothite:And over the flocks[ was] Jaziz the Hagerite. All these[ were] the rulers of the substance which[ was] king David’s.

And he did[ that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gurbaal, and the Mehunims.And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad[ even] to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened[ himself] exceedingly.Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning[ of the wall], and fortified them.Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen[ also], and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah,[ one] of the king’s captains.

Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe[ which is] instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man[ that is] an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure[ things] new and old.

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks,[ and] look well to thy herds.For riches[ are] not for ever: and doth the crown[ endure] to every generation?The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.The lambs[ are] for thy clothing, and the goats[ are] the price of the field.And[ thou shalt have] goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and[ for] the maintenance for thy maidens.
