耶稣说话的时候，有一个法利赛人请耶稣到他家里吃饭，于是耶稣进去坐席。那个法利赛人看见耶稣午餐之前不行洗净礼，感到惊奇。主就对他说：“如今你们法利赛人洗净杯子、盘子的外面，但你们里面却充满着贪心和恶意。你们这些愚妄的人！那位造了外面的，不也造了里面吗？不过你们当把里面的施舍给人，看哪，对你们来说一切就都洁净了。“你们法利赛人有祸了！因为你们奉献薄荷、芸香和各种蔬菜的十分之一，却废弃了公义和属神的爱。这些事是你们应该做的，至于前者也不可忽略。“你们法利赛人有祸了！因为你们喜爱会堂里的首位，喜爱街市上的致敬问候。“你们有祸了！因为你们好像没有标志的坟墓，人走在上面也不知道。”有一个律法师对耶稣说：“老师，你说这些话，把我们也侮辱了。”耶稣说：“你们这些律法师也有祸了！因为你们使人背负难挑的重担，但自己却连一根指头也不肯碰它们一下。“你们有祸了！因为你们建造先知的坟墓，而你们的祖先是杀害他们的。因此对你们祖先的行为，你们是见证人，你们也赞同，因为他们杀害了先知们，你们就建造先知的坟墓。为此，神的智慧也曾说：‘我将要差派先知和使徒到他们那里去。有些他们要杀害，有些他们要逼迫。’这是为要向这世代追讨那从创世以来所流的众先知的血，就是从亚伯的血起，直到在祭坛和圣所之间被杀的撒迦利亚的血为止。“是的，我告诉你们：这世代将要为此被追讨。“你们这些律法师有祸了！因为你们拿去了知识的钥匙，你们自己不进去，还阻止正要进去的人。”耶稣从那里出来，法利赛人和经文士们就开始激烈地敌视他，还盘问他许多问题，暗中等机会，要从他的口中抓住把柄。

但这时候，有些经文士心里说：“这个人说亵渎的话！”耶稣知道他们的想法，就说：“你们心里为什么怀着恶念呢？

那邀请耶稣的法利赛人看见了，心里说：“这个人如果是先知，就会知道摸他的是谁，是个什么样的女人，因为她是个罪人。”

这两个王，他们的心都倾向作恶，他们同席却彼此说谎，但他们的计谋不会成功，因为结局在所定的时期才会来到。

忠诚是人所渴慕的；穷人好过说谎的人。
