For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.So God replied,“ Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies—I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have!

The people of Israel feed on the wind; they chase after the east wind all day long. They pile up lies and violence; they are making an alliance with Assyria while sending olive oil to buy support from Egypt.

Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long.

The wise don’t make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness.

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance

I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments.
