The assembly must protect the one accused of murder from the avenger of blood and send the accused back to the city of refuge to which they fled. The accused must stay there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

The court must provide a safe place for the person accused of murder. It must keep the one accused of murder safe from those who want to kill them. The court must send the accused person back to the city they ran to for safety. The accused person must stay there until the high priest dies. That priest has been anointed with holy oil.

And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

The community must protect the slayer from the avenger and must escort the slayer back to live in the city of refuge to which he fled. There he must remain until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the sacred oil.

因此，弟兄們，我們藉著耶穌的血，可以坦然無懼地進入至聖所。他為我們開闢了一條又新又活的道路，從幔子經過；這幔子就是他的身體。既然我們有一位偉大的祭司管理神的家，既然我們的心被血灑過，脫離了罪惡感，身體也被清水洗淨了，就讓我們懷著真誠的心，以確信不移的信仰近前來；

但藉著神的恩典，藉著在基督耶穌裡的救贖，卻無償地被稱為義。神預先定下耶穌為平息祭，是用耶穌的血、藉著人的信，為要顯明神自己的義；因為他用忍耐的心，寬容人過去所犯的罪，為了在現今的時刻顯明他的義，好表明他自己為義，也稱信耶穌的人為義。

他也沒有藉著山羊和牛犢的血，而是藉著他自己的血，一次性地進入聖所，成就了永恆的救贖。實際上，如果山羊和公牛的血，以及母牛犢的灰，灑在那些汙穢的人身上，能使他們分別為聖、肉身潔淨，更何況基督的血呢！基督藉著永恆的聖靈，將自己毫無瑕疵地獻給神，他的血難道不能潔淨我們的良心脫離致死的行為，使我們事奉永生的神嗎？為此，基督做了新約的中保，藉著死贖清了人在第一個約之下的過犯，好使那些蒙召的人可以得到所應許的永恆繼業。

故此，他也能徹底拯救那些藉著他來到神面前的人；因為他一直活著，為他們代求。這樣一位聖潔、沒有邪惡、毫無玷汙、與罪人分開、高過諸天的大祭司，對我們實在是合宜的。他不需要像其他大祭司那樣天天獻祭：先為自己的罪孽，然後為子民；因為當他把自己獻上的時候，就一次性地把這事完成了。律法委任的大祭司都有軟弱，但在律法以後，誓言保證的話語所委任的兒子，卻永遠完全。

他在十字架上既然消除了仇恨，就藉著十字架使兩者得以在一個身體裡，與神和好；並且來傳和平的福音給你們在遠處的人，也給那些在近處的人。因為藉著基督，我們兩者能夠在同一位聖靈裡，來到父面前。

所以，我們既然有一位已經越過了諸天的、尊貴的大祭司——神的兒子耶穌，我們就要持守信仰告白；因為我們的大祭司不是不能同情我們的種種軟弱，而是在各方面照著與我們相同的樣式受過試探，只是沒有犯罪。因此，讓我們坦然無懼地來到恩典的寶座前，為要得著憐憫，尋見恩典，做為及時的幫助。
