「因為那一夜我要巡遍埃及，把境內所有長子和頭生的牲畜全都殺掉，也要嚴懲埃及所有的神明。我是耶和華。

以下是關於埃及的預言：看啊，耶和華駕著疾馳的雲來到埃及。埃及的偶像在祂面前顫抖，埃及人膽戰心驚。

天上起了戰爭，米迦勒和他的天使出戰巨龍。巨龍和牠的天使極力抵抗，那巨龍敗下陣來，天上再沒有牠們的立足之地，牠和牠的天使都一同從天上被摔到地上。巨龍就是那古蛇，又名魔鬼或撒旦，也就是那迷惑全人類的。

我現在知道，耶和華比一切神明都偉大，因為祂懲治了虐待這些百姓的狂妄之徒。」

耶和華必令他們恐懼，因為祂要消滅世上的神明。天下萬民必各在本地敬拜祂。

到了半夜，耶和華把所有埃及人的長子都殺了，包括坐王位的法老的長子、牢中囚犯的長子和一切頭生的牲畜。晚上，法老及其臣僕和所有埃及人都驚醒了，到處都是哭號聲，因為沒有一家不死人的。
