Why do you discourage the Israelites from crossing over into the land the Lord has given them?

The Lord has given the land of Canaan to the Israelites. So why would you want to keep them from going over into it?

Why will you discourage the heart of the people of Israel from going over into the land that the Lord has given them?

“ Why do you want to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the Lord has given them?

Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing into the land the LORD has given them?

And why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the Lord has given them?

他們上到以實各谷，看了那地，就使以色列人灰心，不進耶和華賜給他們的地那裡去。

他們告訴摩西：“我們到了你派我們去的那地，果然是流奶與蜜的地，這就是那地的果子。只是住在那地的人強壯，城又堅固又十分高大，並且我們在那裡也看見了亞衲族人的後裔。有亞瑪力人住在南地；赫人、耶布斯人、亞摩利人住在山地；迦南人住在海邊和約旦河沿岸。”迦勒在摩西面前使眾人鎮靜，說：“我們立刻上去，佔領那地吧！因為我們必能得勝。”但是，那些與他同去的人卻說：“我們不能上去攻擊那民，因為他們比我們強。”那些探子就他們窺探之地向以色列人報惡信，說：“我們經過要窺探的地方，是個吞吃居民的地方；我們在那裡看見的人，個個都高大。在那裡我們看見了巨人，就是亞衲人的子孫，是巨人的後裔；我們看自己好像是蚱蜢，他們看我們也是這樣。”當時，全體會眾大聲喧嚷；那夜眾民都哭號。以色列人向摩西和亞倫發怨言；全體會眾都對他們說：“但願我們早死在埃及地，或死在這曠野。耶和華為甚麼把我們領到這地來，死在刀劍之下呢？我們的妻子和孩子要被擄掠。我們回埃及去，豈不更好嗎？”於是他們彼此說：“我們另立一個首領，回埃及去吧。”

保羅卻回答：“你們為甚麼哭，使我心碎呢？我為主耶穌的名，不但被捆綁，就算死在耶路撒冷我也都準備好了。”

我們上哪裡去呢？我們的兄弟使我們心灰意冷，說：那地的人比我們高大；他們的城邑又大又堅固，高聳入天；我們在那裡還看見有亞衲族的人。’
