So the Lord’s anger burned on that day, and He swore, saying,

The Lord’s anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath:

“ Then the Lord heard the sound of your words, and He was angry and swore an oath, saying,‘ Not one of these men, this evil generation, shall see the good land which I swore to give your fathers,except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him I will give the land on which he has set foot, and to his sons, because he has followed the Lord fully.’The Lord was angry with me also on your account, saying,‘ Not even you shall enter there.Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, shall himself enter there; encourage him, for he will give it to Israel as an inheritance.Moreover, your little ones who, you said, would become plunder, and your sons, who this day have no knowledge of good and evil, shall enter there, and I will give it to them and they shall take possession of it.But as for you, turn around and set out for the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.’

Do not harden your hearts as when they provoked Me, As on the day of trial in the wilderness,Where your fathers put Me to the test, And saw My works for forty years.Therefore I was angry with this generation, And said,‘ They always go astray in their heart, And they did not know My ways’;As I swore in My anger,‘ They certainly shall not enter My rest.’ ”Take care, brothers and sisters, that there will not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.But encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called“ today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.For we have become partakers of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end,while it is said,“ Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me.”For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?And so we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

however, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord.

Also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all the lands,

Therefore I swore in My anger, They certainly shall not enter My rest.”

shall by no means see the land which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who were disrespectful to Me see it.
