“‘ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. Celebrate a festival to the Lord for seven days.

“‘ On the 15th day of the seventh month, come together for a special service. Do not do any regular work. Celebrate the Feast of Booths for seven days to honor the Lord.

“ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days.

“ Five days later, on the fifteenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly of all the people, and you may do no ordinary work on that day. It is the beginning of the Festival of Shelters, a seven day festival to the Lord.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the fifteenth day of the seventh month; you do not do any daily work. You are to celebrate a seven-day festival for the LORD.

‘ Then on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work, and you shall celebrate with a feast to the Lord for seven days.

七月十五日守节的时候，七天他都要像这样预备赎罪祭、燔祭、素祭和油。”

上来攻击耶路撒冷的列国中所有剩下的人，要年年上来敬拜大君王—万军之耶和华，并守住棚节。地上万族中，凡不上耶路撒冷敬拜大君王—万军之耶和华的，雨必不降在他们的地上。埃及族若不上来，雨必不降在他们的地上；凡不上来守住棚节的列国，耶和华必用这灾攻击他们。这就是埃及的惩罚和那些不上来守住棚节之列国的惩罚。

从第一天直到末一天，以斯拉天天朗读神的律法书。他们守节七日，第八日照例有严肃会。

你要守收割节，收田间所种、劳碌所得初熟之物。你年底收藏田间劳碌所得时，要守收藏节。

道成了肉身，住在我们中间，充充满满地有恩典有真理，我们也见过他的荣光，正是父独一儿子的荣光。

在收割初熟麦子的时候要守七七节，又要在年底守收藏节。

耶和华吩咐摩西说：“你要吩咐以色列人说：这七月十五日是住棚节，要向耶和华守这节七日。第一日当有圣会，任何劳动的工都不可做。要将火祭献给耶和华七日。第八日当守圣会，并要献火祭给耶和华。这是严肃会，任何劳动的工都不可做。“这是耶和华的节期，就是你们要宣告为圣会的节期；要将火祭，就是燔祭、素祭、祭物和浇酒祭，按照每日的规定献给耶和华。除此之外，还有耶和华的安息日，你们献给耶和华的供物，一切的还愿祭，和一切的甘心祭。“但是，从七月十五日起，你们收藏了地的出产之后，要守耶和华的节期七日。第一日为要完全安息，第八日也要完全安息。第一日，你们要拿美好树上的果子、棕树枝、树叶茂密的枝条和河边的柳枝，在耶和华—你们的神面前欢乐七日。每年你们要向耶和华守这节七日。你们在七月里所守的节，要成为世世代代永远的定例。你们要住在棚里七日；凡以色列家出生的人都要住在棚里，好叫你们世世代代知道，我领以色列人出埃及地的时候，曾使他们住在棚里。我是耶和华—你们的神。”

他们发现律法书上写着，耶和华藉摩西吩咐以色列人要在七月的节期中住在棚里，

因着信，他就在所应许之地作客，好像在异乡，居住在帐棚里，与蒙同一个应许的以撒和雅各一样。因为他等候着那座有根基的城，就是神所设计和建造的。因着信，撒拉自己已过了生育的年龄还能怀孕，因为她认为应许她的那位是可信的；所以，从一个仿佛已死的人竟生出子孙，如同天上的星那样众多，海边的沙那样无数。这些人都是存着信心死的，并没有得着所应许的，却从远处观望，且欢喜迎接。他们承认自己在地上是客旅，是寄居的。
