“‘ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. Celebrate a festival to the Lord for seven days.

“‘ On the 15th day of the seventh month, come together for a special service. Do not do any regular work. Celebrate the Feast of Booths for seven days to honor the Lord.

“ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days.

“ Five days later, on the fifteenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly of all the people, and you may do no ordinary work on that day. It is the beginning of the Festival of Shelters, a seven day festival to the Lord.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the fifteenth day of the seventh month; you do not do any daily work. You are to celebrate a seven-day festival for the LORD.

‘ Then on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work, and you shall celebrate with a feast to the Lord for seven days.

“你從禾場上和榨酒池裡收藏了出產以後，就要舉行住棚節七日。在這節期以內，你和你的兒女、僕婢，以及住在你城裡的利未人、寄居者、孤兒和寡婦，都要歡樂。

七月十五日，守節的時候，他也要這樣行，照著逾越節的贖罪祭、燔祭、素祭和油的條例去作。”

所有前來攻擊耶路撒冷的列國中剩下的人，必年年上來敬拜大君王萬軍之耶和華，並且守住棚節。地上的萬族中，凡是不上耶路撒冷敬拜大君王萬軍之耶和華的，就必沒有雨降給他們。埃及族若不上來參加，就必沒有雨降給他們，這就是耶和華用來擊打那些不上來守住棚節的列國的災禍。這就是埃及的刑罰，也是所有不上來守住棚節的列國的懲罰。

從頭一天直到最後一天，每天都宣讀神的律法書。他們守節七天，第八天照典章有嚴肅會。

又要守收割節，就是收在田間你勞碌耕種所得初熟之物的節；也要在年底守收藏節，就是在田間收集你勞碌所得之物的時候。

道成了肉身，住在我們中間，滿有恩典和真理。我們見過他的榮光，正是從父而來的獨生子的榮光。

在收割初熟麥子的時候，你要守七七節；在年底，你要過收藏節。

耶和華對摩西說：“你要告訴以色列人：七月十五日是住棚節，要在耶和華面前守這七天的節期。第一天應當有聖會；甚麼勞碌的工你們都不可作。這七天你們每天都要獻火祭給耶和華；第八天應當有聖會，要獻火祭給耶和華，這是集會的日子，甚麼勞碌的工都不可作。“以上是耶和華的節日，你們應當召集聖會，照著每日的規定獻火祭給耶和華，就是燔祭、素祭、平安祭和奠祭。此外，還有耶和華的安息日，你們的供物，你們的一切還願祭和甘心獻的祭，這些是你們當獻給耶和華的。“又在七月十五日，你們收了那地的出產以後，要守耶和華的節七日，第一天要完全休歇，第八天也要完全休歇。第一天你們要拿果樹的美果、棕樹枝、茂密的大樹枝和溪邊的楊柳枝，在耶和華你們的神面前歡樂七天。你們每年七月，要守耶和華這七天的節期，這是你們世世代代永遠的律例。你們要住在棚裡七天；以色列所有的本地人都要住在棚裡，好叫你們世世代代知道，我領以色列人出埃及地的時候，曾經使他們住在棚裡；我是耶和華你們的神。”

他們發現律法上記載，耶和華曾藉著摩西吩咐以色列人，要在七月的節期中，住在棚裡，

因著信，他在應許之地寄居，好像是在異鄉，與承受同樣應許的以撒、雅各一樣住在帳棚裡。因為他等待那座有根基的城，就是神所設計所建造的。因著信，甚至撒拉，她雖然過了生育的年齡，還是能夠懷孕，因為她認為那應許她的是信實的。所以從一個好像已死的人，竟然生出許多子孫來，仿佛天上的星那麼眾多，海邊的沙那麼無數。這些人都是存著信心死了的，還沒有得著所應許的，只不過是從遠處看見，就表示歡迎，又承認他們在世上是異鄉人，是客旅。
