摩西吩咐以色列人說：「這就是耶和華吩咐抽籤給九個半支派承受為業的地。

你們要按照宗族抽籤，承受土地：人多的要多給他們產業；人少的要少給他們產業。抽到何地給何人，那地就屬於他。你們要按照父系的支派承受產業。

這樣，約書亞照着耶和華所吩咐摩西的一切話奪了那全地，就按着以色列支派所得的份把地分給他們為業。於是國中太平，沒有戰爭了。

他們照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐的，抽籤分產業給九個半支派。

第五籤是亞設支派的人按着宗族抽出的。

第六籤是拿弗他利人，是拿弗他利人按着宗族抽出的。

要根據抽籤，看人數的多寡，給他們分配產業。」

於是眾人為他們搖籤，搖出馬提亞來；他就和十一個使徒同列。

第四籤是以薩迦，是以薩迦人按着宗族抽出的。

第二籤是西緬，是西緬支派的人按着宗族抽出的，他們所得的地業是在猶大人地業的中間。

人雖可擲籤在膝上，定事卻由耶和華。

但支派，按着宗族，抽到第七籤。

第三籤是西布倫人按着宗族抽到的。他們地業的邊界延伸到撒立。

掣籤能止息紛爭，也能化解雙方激烈的爭辯。

又感謝父，使你們配與眾聖徒在光明中分享基業。

約瑟的子孫對約書亞說：「耶和華到如今這樣賜福給我，我百姓眾多，你為甚麼只給我抽一籤，分一份的土地為業呢？」

約書亞就在示羅，在耶和華面前為他們抽籤。約書亞按照以色列人的支派，在那裏把地分給他們。便雅憫支派，按着宗族抽籤所得之地，是在猶大子孫和約瑟子孫之間。

我聽見以色列人各支派中受印的數目有十四萬四千；猶大支派中受印的有一萬二千；呂便支派中有一萬二千；迦得支派中有一萬二千；亞設支派中有一萬二千；拿弗他利支派中有一萬二千；瑪拿西支派中有一萬二千；西緬支派中有一萬二千；利未支派中有一萬二千；以薩迦支派中有一萬二千；西布倫支派中有一萬二千；約瑟支派中有一萬二千；便雅憫支派中受印的有一萬二千。

你們把地劃成七份之後，就要把所寫的帶到我這裏來。我要在耶和華－我們的上帝面前，為你們抽籤。
