耶和华对何西阿说：“给他起名叫耶斯列；因为再过片时，我要惩罚耶户家在耶斯列流人血的罪，也必终结以色列家的王朝。

耶和华的使者对巴兰说：“你和这些人去吧！你只要说我对你说的话。”于是巴兰和巴勒的官员一同去了。

耶户说：“要为巴力召集严肃会！”于是他们宣告了。

他就为约瑟祝福说：“愿我祖父亚伯拉罕和我父亲以撒所事奉的神，就是一生牧养我直到今日的神，救赎我脱离一切患难的那位使者，赐福给这两个孩子。愿我的名，我祖父亚伯拉罕和我父亲以撒的名藉着他们得以流传。又愿他们在全地上多多繁衍。”

耶和华的使者在荆棘的火焰中向他显现。摩西观看，看哪，荆棘在火中焚烧，却没有烧毁。摩西说：“我要转过去看这大异象，这荆棘为何没有烧毁呢？”耶和华见摩西转过去看，神就从荆棘里呼叫他说：“摩西！摩西！”他说：“我在这里。”神说：“不要靠近这里。把你脚上的鞋脱下来，因为你所站的地方是圣地”。他又说：“我是你父亲的神，是亚伯拉罕的神，以撒的神，雅各的神。”摩西蒙上脸，因为怕看神。
