以東說：『你不可經過。』以東就率領重兵出來，要用強硬的手對付以色列。

Again they answered:“ You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.

Again the people of Edom answered,“ We won’t let you pass through here.” Then the people of Edom marched out against them. They came with a large and powerful army.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force.

But the king of Edom replied,“ Stay out! You may not pass through our land.” With that he mobilized his army and marched out against them with an imposing force.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You may not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and a strong hand.

Then he said,“ You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand.

And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You must not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

就打發使者去見以東王、說：『請容我從你的地經過』；以東王不聽。他們也打發人去見摩押王，摩押王也不情願；以色列人就住在加低斯。

永恆主這麼說：『以東三番四次地悖逆，我必不收回成命，因為他拿刀追趕他的兄弟，毁盡了憐憫之心；他的忿怒永遠撕裂了人，他的暴怒他長久懷着。

以東對以色列說：『你不可從我這裏經過，免得我帶刀出去對你接戰。』

西宏卻不信任以色列人，不讓他們經過他的地界；西宏便聚集眾民，在雅雜紮營，同以色列人交戰。

以掃因了他父親給雅各祝的福，就懷恨雅各，以掃心裏說：『為我父親居喪的日子近了；那時我一定要殺我兄弟雅各。』

因你對兄弟雅各所行的強暴、羞愧必籠罩着你，你也必永遠被剪除。當外族人擄掠雅各財物的日子，外人進入他城門，拈鬮要分耶路撒冷，你站在一旁那日子，你也好像敵人之一呀！當你兄弟的日子、他遭遇禍患之日，你不應該瞪着眼看着呀。當猶大人被滅的日子，你不應該因着他們而沾沾自喜呀；當災難的日子、你不應該誇口說大話呀。當我人民遭遇患難的日子，你不應該進他的門呀；當他遭遇患難的日子，你也不應該瞪着眼看他受苦呀；當他遭遇患難的日子，你不應該伸手搶他的財物呀。你不應該站在岔路口，剪除他們中間逃脫的人呀；當災難的日子、你不應該將他們殘存的人交付仇敵呀。因為永恆主的日子已臨近要懲罰列國了。你怎樣行、也必怎樣向你行，你的報應必還歸你頭上。

因為你永懷着仇恨，當以色列人遭遇災難的時候、罪罰到了盡頭的日子、你將他們交付於刀劍之勢力下，故此我指着永活的我來起誓，主永恆主發神諭說，我必定使你受流人血的報應，流人血的罪罰必追趕你；你既有了流人血的罪，流人血的罪罰就必追趕你。我必使西珥山荒涼，令人驚駭；從那裏來回經過的人、我都要剪除。我必將被刺死的人充滿了你的山；你的岡陵、平谷、和你所有的溪河、都必有被刀刺死的人倒斃於其中。我必使你永遠荒涼；你的城市必沒有人居住；你們就知道我乃是永恆主。『因為你曾說：「這二國這二邦必歸於我，我必擁有它以為業」；（其實永恆主仍在那裏）所以主永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓；我一定要照你因仇恨而向他們發的忿怒和妒憤來辦你；我判罰你的時候要將自己在你中間讓人認識。

我，我和平；但我一說話，他們便要戰爭。

使者回來見雅各說：『我們到了你哥哥以掃那裏，他也正來着要迎接你；並且還有四百人同他一齊來。』
