摩西称那地方为玛撒和米利巴，因为百姓在那里吵闹，又试探耶和华，说：“耶和华真的在我们当中吗？”

不可像你们祖先在米利巴，在旷野的玛撒那样心里顽固。

他们在米利巴泉边惹耶和华发怒，连累了摩西。因为他们惹摩西发怒，以致他说了鲁莽的话。他们没有照耶和华的命令消灭外族人，反倒与他们混居，仿效他们的习俗，拜他们的神像，陷入网罗。他们把自己的儿女当祭物献给鬼魔，他们把自己的儿女献给迦南的神像作祭物，流他们儿女无辜的血，玷污了那地方。他们的行为玷污了自己，使自己沦为淫妇。耶和华因此向祂的子民发怒，厌恶他们，使他们落在列邦的手中，受敌人的辖制。他们的敌人压迫他们，奴役他们。祂多次拯救他们，他们却执意背叛，陷入罪中不能自拔。但祂听见他们在苦难中呼求时，仍然眷顾他们。祂没有忘记与他们立的约，因祂伟大无比的爱而怜悯他们。祂使掳掠他们的人怜悯他们。我们的上帝耶和华啊，求你拯救我们，从各国招聚我们，使我们可以称谢你的圣名，欢然赞美你。以色列的上帝耶和华永永远远当受称颂。愿万民都说：“阿们！”你们要赞美耶和华！

因为在荀旷野，在加低斯的米利巴泉旁，你和亚伦对我不忠，没有在以色列人中尊我为圣。

歌革啊，你必如密云一样遮天蔽日，前来攻击我的以色列子民。将来，我要领你来攻击我的土地，我要在列国面前借着你彰显我的圣洁，使他们认识我。’

我要使我伟大的名，就是你们在列国中所亵渎的名，彰显它的圣洁。我要当着列国的面在你们身上彰显我的圣洁，那时他们就知道我是耶和华。这是主耶和华说的。

唯有万军之耶和华因祂的公正而受尊崇，圣洁的上帝借公义彰显自己的圣洁。

当我把你们从列国领出来，从你们散居的列邦聚集起来时，你们必如馨香之祭一样蒙我悦纳，我必当着列国的面在你们中间彰显我的圣洁。
