Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of[ their] fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.

“ Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.

“ Speak to the Israelites. Get 12 walking sticks from them. Get one from the leader of each of Israel’s tribes. Write the name of each man on his walking stick.

“ Speak to the people of Israel, and get from them staffs, one for each fathers’ house, from all their chiefs according to their fathers’ houses, twelve staffs. Write each man’s name on his staff,

“ Tell the people of Israel to bring you twelve wooden staffs, one from each leader of Israel’s ancestral tribes, and inscribe each leader’s name on his staff.

“ Speak to the Israelites and take one staff from them for each ancestral tribe, twelve staffs from all the leaders of their tribes. Write each man’s name on his staff.

“ Speak to the sons of Israel, and obtain from them a staff for each father’s household: twelve staffs, from all their leaders for their fathers’ households. You shall write each man’s name on his staff,

“ Speak to the children of Israel, and get from them a rod from each father’s house, all their leaders according to their fathers’ houses— twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod.

“ Speak to the children of Israel, and take rods from them, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod.

And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches,[ which] hath devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod[ to be] a sceptre to rule. This[ is] a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.

In the first[ place] went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies: and over his host[ was] Nahshon the son of Amminadab.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar[ was] Nethaneel the son of Zuar.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun[ was] Eliab the son of Helon.And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host[ was] Elizur the son of Shedeur.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon[ was] Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad[ was] Eliasaph the son of Deuel.And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and[ the other] did set up the tabernacle against they came.And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host[ was] Elishama the son of Ammihud.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh[ was] Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin[ was] Abidan the son of Gideoni.And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward,[ which was] the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host[ was] Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher[ was] Pagiel the son of Ocran.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali[ was] Ahira the son of Enan.

Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily[ in] the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed[ in] Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

Because[ it is] a trial, and what if[ the sword] contemn even the rod? it shall be no[ more], saith the Lord GOD.

And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

And these[ are] the names of the men that shall stand with you: of[ the tribe of] Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel.Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan.These[ were] the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.

And the LORD said unto him, What[ is] that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son,[ as] every tree.

And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab[ shall be] captain of the children of Judah.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.And those that do pitch next unto him[ shall be] the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar[ shall be] captain of the children of Issachar.And his host, and those that were numbered thereof,[ were] fifty and four thousand and four hundred.[ Then] the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon[ shall be] captain of the children of Zebulun.And his host, and those that were numbered thereof,[ were] fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.All that were numbered in the camp of Judah[ were] an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies. These shall first set forth.On the south side[ shall be] the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben[ shall be] Elizur the son of Shedeur.And his host, and those that were numbered thereof,[ were] forty and six thousand and five hundred.And those which pitch by him[ shall be] the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon[ shall be] Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad[ shall be] Eliasaph the son of Reuel.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben[ were] an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their armies. And they shall set forth in the second rank.Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.On the west side[ shall be] the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim[ shall be] Elishama the son of Ammihud.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] forty thousand and five hundred.And by him[ shall be] the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh[ shall be] Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] thirty and two thousand and two hundred.Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin[ shall be] Abidan the son of Gideoni.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] thirty and five thousand and four hundred.All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim[ were] an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred, throughout their armies. And they shall go forward in the third rank.The standard of the camp of Dan[ shall be] on the north side by their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan[ shall be] Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.And those that encamp by him[ shall be] the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher[ shall be] Pagiel the son of Ocran.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] forty and one thousand and five hundred.Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali[ shall be] Ahira the son of Enan.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and[ for] all the house of Israel his companions:And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou[ meanest] by these?Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which[ is] in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him,[ even] with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him[ shall] the gathering of the people[ be].
