as the Lord directed him through Moses. This was to remind the Israelites that no one except a descendant of Aaron should come to burn incense before the Lord, or he would become like Korah and his followers.

He did just as the Lord had directed Moses to tell him to do. The covering would be a reminder to the Israelites. It would remind them that no one except a son of Aaron should come and burn incense to the Lord. If people other than priests did that, they would become like Korah and his followers.

to be a reminder to the people of Israel, so that no outsider, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, should draw near to burn incense before the Lord, lest he become like Korah and his company— as the Lord said to him through Moses.

This would warn the Israelites that no unauthorized person— no one who was not a descendant of Aaron— should ever enter the Lord’s presence to burn incense. If anyone did, the same thing would happen to him as happened to Korah and his followers. So the Lord’s instructions to Moses were carried out.

乌西雅强盛后，便心高气傲，以致走向灭亡。他干犯他的上帝耶和华，擅自进入耶和华的殿在香坛上烧香。祭司亚撒利雅率领八十位耶和华勇敢的祭司跟着进殿，阻止乌西雅王，说：“乌西雅啊，给耶和华烧香不是你可以做的事，乃是承受圣职做祭司的亚伦子孙的事。离开圣所吧！你已干犯耶和华上帝，必不能从祂那里得荣耀。”手拿香炉要烧香的乌西雅大怒，正当他在耶和华殿里的香坛旁向众祭司发怒的时候，他额头上突然患了麻风病。亚撒利雅大祭司和众祭司见状，就催促他出殿，他急忙出去了，因为耶和华降灾给他。乌西雅王到死一直有麻风病。他被隔离在别的宫中，不得进耶和华的殿。他儿子约坦管理王室，治理国家。

摩西、亚伦和亚伦的儿子们要在圣幕东面、朝日出的方向安营，为以色列人在圣所司职。凡擅自走近圣所的人，都要被处死。

“亚伦每天早上料理灯台的时候，要在这坛上烧芬芳的香。黄昏点灯的时候，他也要在耶和华面前烧香，世世代代都要如此。不可在这香坛上烧别的香料，不可用这坛来献燔祭或素祭，也不可在上面浇奠祭。亚伦每年要在坛的角上行一次赎罪礼，用赎罪祭牲的血涂在坛角上，世代如此。这是耶和华至圣的坛。”

他们要协助你，负责看守圣幕，办理圣幕的一切事务。外人不可靠近。你们要看守圣所和祭坛，以免我的愤怒再临到以色列人。我已从以色列人中选出你们的利未亲族归给我，协助你们在会幕中司职。你和你儿子要尽祭司的本分，负责祭坛和至圣所的一切事务。祭司的职分是我赏赐给你们的，外人若近前来，必被处死。”

在迁移的时候，利未人要负责拆卸和支搭圣幕；其他人若走近圣幕，必被处死。

有一位上帝的仆人奉耶和华的命令从犹大来到伯特利。那时，耶罗波安正站在祭坛旁烧香。上帝的仆人奉耶和华的命令向祭坛喊道：“祭坛啊，祭坛啊，耶和华说，必有一子在大卫家出生，他名叫约西亚。他要在你上面杀死这些献祭的祭司，在你上面焚烧人的骨头。”当日，他又说：“耶和华说要给你们一个征兆，这坛必破裂，坛上的灰必撒出来。”
