約瑟轉身離開他們，哭了一場，又回來與他們說話，並從他們那裡挑出西緬，在他們眼前把他捆綁起來。

西緬的兒子耶母利、雅憫、阿轄、雅斤、瑣哈爾，以及掃羅——迦南女子的兒子；

到了第三天，當他們正疼痛的時候，雅各的兩個兒子，就是狄娜的哥哥西緬和利未，各拿刀劍，在全城毫無戒備的時候進去，把所有的男子都殺了。又用刀劍殺了哈抹和他的兒子示劍，然後把狄娜從示劍家裡帶走了。雅各的兒子們因那城的人玷汙了他們的妹妹，就來到被殺的人那裡，掠奪那城，奪取了他們的羊群、牛群和驢子，以及城中和田間的一切；又擄走、掠奪了他們所有的財富、孩童、婦女，以及房屋裡的一切。雅各對西緬和利未說：「你們給我帶來了禍患，使我在這地的居民，就是在迦南人和比利洗人中間，有了臭名。我的人數稀少，如果他們聚集起來對付我、攻擊我，我和我家就會被除滅。」
