For many years you were patient with them. By your Spirit you warned them through your prophets. Yet they paid no attention, so you gave them into the hands of the neighboring peoples.

For many years you put up with them. By your Spirit you warned them through your prophets. In spite of that, they didn’t pay any attention. So you handed them over to the nations that were around them.

Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

In your love, you were patient with them for many years. You sent your Spirit, who warned them through the prophets. But still they wouldn’t listen! So once again you allowed the peoples of the land to conquer them.

爾曹強項、心與耳未受割者、恆逆聖神、爾祖所行、爾亦行之、

誰使雅各被掠、付以色列於盜非耶和華乎、我儕獲罪於彼、不行其途、不遵其法、

乃考基督之神在其衷者、預證基督受苦、而後得榮、所指何時、何如時、

蓋預言非由人意而來、乃感於聖神者、由上帝而言也、

抑輕褻其宏大之慈惠寬容恆忍、不知上帝之慈惠導爾改悔乎、

今我示爾、我葡萄園、何以處之、我必撤其籬、俾見吞噬、毀其垣、俾遭蹂躪、使之荒蕪、不治不鋤、荊棘蒺藜滋長、命雲不雨、

萬軍之耶和華曰、我呼之、而彼不聽、彼呼我、我亦不聽、

耶和華所定、今已行之、古昔所命、今已成之兮、彼傾覆之、不加矜恤兮、使爾敵因爾而喜、俾爾仇高舉其角兮、

惟民叛逆、使其聖神懷憂、故轉為讐、而自攻之、

加以警戒、使服爾律、惟彼驕矜、不從爾命、爾之律例、人遵之則得生、彼乃犯之、強項背逆、不肯聽從、

惟彼弗順、叛逆乎爾、背爾法律、爾之先知勸令歸爾、彼乃殺之、大干震怒、

耶和華藉諸先知先見、戒以色列與猶大人曰、當轉離爾之惡途、守我誡命典章、循我所命爾列祖、及藉我僕眾先知授爾之法、惟彼弗聽、強項不馴、如其不信厥上帝耶和華之列祖、違棄上帝之典章、及與其列祖所立之約、並戒之之言、從虛無而變為虛妄、效四周異邦、即耶和華所命勿效之者、違棄其上帝耶和華一切誡命、鑄二犢像、製造木偶、崇拜天象、奉事巴力、使其子女經火、用卜筮邪術、自鬻而行耶和華所惡、以激其怒、耶和華震怒以色列人、擯於其前、惟遺猶大支派而已、

其列祖之上帝耶和華、矜恤其民、與其居所、夙興遣使以戒之、惟彼訕笑上帝之使、藐視其言、譏其先知、致耶和華之怒及於其民、無可救治、

自爾列祖出埃及時、以迄於今、我日遣我僕諸先知詣爾、乃夙興而遣之、

侍衛長召耶利米、謂之曰、爾上帝耶和華、曾言降災於斯土、今果如其所言而行、乃緣爾曹干罪於耶和華、不從其言、故遭此事、

主歟、爾為慈仁之上帝、遲於發怒、廣有慈惠誠實兮、

兩不相合、乃散、將散時、保羅以一言語之曰、善哉、聖神託先知以賽亞告爾列祖云、

耶和華亦遣其僕諸先知至爾、夙興遣之、惟爾不從、不側耳以聽、

因爾所行之惡、所作可憎之事、耶和華不能復忍、故爾土地成為荒蕪、可駭可詛、無人居處、有如今日、

在曠野包容之、約四十年、

錫爾聖善之靈、以訓迪之、使瑪那不缺於其口、賜水以解其渴、

主不延緩其所許、若有視為延緩者、乃寬忍爾曹、不欲一人沉淪、惟欲人皆改悔、
