加以訓誨、使服爾律例、彼妄自誇大、不從爾命、爾之法度、遵之者則得生、彼故犯之、強項難馴、背命不聽。

加以警戒、使復服主之律法、乃彼狂妄、不從主之誡命、干犯主之法度、人若遵之必得生、彼乃違背強項、不欲聽從、

“ You warned them in order to turn them back to your law, but they became arrogant and disobeyed your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, of which you said,‘ The person who obeys them will live by them.’ Stubbornly they turned their backs on you, became stiff- necked and refused to listen.

“ You warned them so that they would obey your law again. But they became proud. They didn’t obey your commands. They sinned against your rules. You said,‘ Anyone who obeys my rules will live by them.’ But the people didn’t care about that. They turned their backs on you. They became very stubborn. They refused to listen to you.

And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.

“ You warned them to return to your Law, but they became proud and obstinate and disobeyed your commands. They did not follow your regulations, by which people will find life if only they obey. They stubbornly turned their backs on you and refused to listen.

And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your Law. 但是我們的列祖狂妄自大，硬著頸項，不聽從你的命令。

所以你們要謹守我的律例和典章；人應該遵行這些，按照它們生活，我是耶和華。

“可是他們竟悖逆，背叛你，把你的律法丟在背後，殺害那些控告他們，要他們歸向你的先知，犯了褻瀆的大罪。

因為你知道埃及人怎樣狂妄自大地對待他們，所以就對法老和他的一切臣僕，以及他國中所有的人民，施行神蹟奇事，為你自己建立了至今仍存的名聲。

但神所賜的恩更大；所以聖經上說：“神對抗驕傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人。”你們應當順服神，抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼就逃避你們。你們應當親近神，神就親近你們。罪人啊，要潔淨你們的手；三心兩意的人哪，要清潔你們的心。你們要愁苦、悲哀、哭泣，把歡笑變為傷痛，把快樂變為憂愁。你們務要在主面前謙卑，他就使你們高升。

但他們不肯聽從，反而硬著頸項，充耳不聞（“反而硬著頸項，充耳不聞”直譯是“轉着固執的肩膊，使自己的耳朵發沉不聽”）。他們使自己的心剛硬如金鋼石，不肯聽從律法和萬軍之耶和華藉著他的靈、透過從前的先知所說的話。因此，萬軍之耶和華非常忿怒。

何沙雅的兒子亞撒利雅，和加利亞的兒子約哈難，以及所有狂傲的人，就對耶利米說：“你在說謊！耶和華我們的神並沒有差遣你來說：‘你們不可去埃及，在那裡寄居。’

“萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘看哪！我必使我宣告攻擊這城的一切災禍，臨到這城和她附近的一切城鎮，因為他們硬著頸項，不聽從我的話。’”

“從猶大王亞們的兒子約西亞第十三年直到今日，這二十三年來，常有耶和華的話臨到我，我也不斷對你們傳講，你們卻不聽從。耶和華雖然不斷差遣他的僕人眾先知到你們那裡去；但你們卻沒有聽從，毫不留心。他們對你們說：‘你們各人要悔改，離開自己的惡道和邪惡的行為，就可以住在耶和華賜給你們和你們列祖的土地上，直到永永遠遠。’”“你們不要隨從別的神，不要事奉敬拜他們，也不可容你們手所作的惹我發怒；這樣，我就不會使禍患臨到你們。但你們沒有聽從我，竟容你們手所作的惹我發怒，自招禍害。”這是耶和華的宣告。

你們的列祖卻沒有聽從，毫不在意，反而硬著頸項不肯聽，不受管教。’”

你們（“你們”原文作“他們”）卻沒有聽從，毫不留心，反倒硬著頸項行惡，比你們（“你們”原文作“他們”）的列祖還厲害。

因此，我藉眾先知砍碎他們，用我口中的話殺戮他們；我的審判必如光一般發出。

直到今日，他們還沒有痛悔，沒有畏懼，也沒有遵行我在你們和你們列祖面前所立的律法和條例。’

你們要聽，要留心聽，不要驕傲；因為是耶和華說的。耶和華你們的神還沒有使黑暗臨到以前，你們的腳還沒有在昏暗的山上絆倒之前，你們要把榮耀歸給他。你們期待光明，他卻把光明變為死蔭，使光明變成黝黑。如果你們不聽從，我必因你們的驕傲暗暗哭泣；我的眼必痛哭流淚，因為耶和華的羊群被擄去了。

律法本來不是出於信，而是說：“遵行這些事的人，就必因這些事而活。”

“你奉耶和華的名對我們所說的話，我們不聽從。我們口中說過的一切話，我們一定去作，我們要向天后燒香，澆奠祭，好像我們自己和我們的列祖，以及我們的君王和領袖，在猶大的各城和耶路撒冷的街上所行的一樣。那時我們吃得飽，得享福樂，不見災禍。

但他心高氣傲、妄自尊大的時候，就從國位上被趕下來，他的尊榮也被奪去。

摩西和亞倫就到法老那裡去，對他說：“耶和華希伯來人的神這樣說：‘你拒絕在我面前謙卑要到幾時呢？讓我的人民離開吧，使他們可以事奉我。

他們遭遇許多災禍和患難的時候，這首詩歌就必在他們面前作證，因為這首詩歌必不會從他們後裔的口中忘記。其實，我還未領他們進入我起誓應許之地以先，他們今日心裡所懷的意念，我都知道了。”

但耶和華仍然差派先知到他們中間，引導他們歸向耶和華；這些先知雖然警告他們，他們卻不肯聽從。

我今日就呼天喚地向你們作證，你們必在過約旦河取得為業的地上迅速滅亡；你們必不能在那地長久生存，必全被消滅。

耶穌說：“你答得對，你這樣行，就必得生命。”

論到出於律法的義，摩西寫著說：“遵行這些事的人就必因這些事而活。”

耶和華他們列祖的神，因為愛惜自己的子民和居所，就常常差派使者警戒他們。

耶和華曾藉著他的眾先知和先見警告以色列人和猶大人說：“從你們的惡道上轉回吧！謹守我的吩咐和我的律例，就是我曾吩咐你們的祖先，和藉著我的僕人眾先知傳遞給你們的一切律法。”

我把我的律例賜給他們，把我的典章指示他們；人如果遵行，就必因此活著。
