那时，他想起古时的日子，就是摩西和他子民的日子：那把他们和他群羊的牧人们从海里带上来的，在哪里呢？那把他的圣灵降在他们当中的，在哪里呢？那让自己荣耀的膀臂在摩西右边作工，在他们面前把水分开，为自己成就永远之名的，在哪里呢？那领他们走过深渊的，在哪里呢？他们像旷野中的马没有绊跌；耶和华的灵使他们得享安息，好像牲畜下到山谷得享安息。你这样引领了你的子民，为自己成就荣耀之名。

原来属于光的果子，就是一切良善、公义、真理；

然而，圣灵的果子是：爱心、喜乐、和平、忍耐、仁慈、良善、忠信、温柔、自制。这样的事，没有律法反对。

他们既不饥饿也不口渴，炎热和太阳也不会伤害他们，因为那怜悯他们的必引领他们，带领他们到水泉旁边。

节期的最后一天，也是最盛大的日子，耶稣站起来呼喊说：“如果有人渴了，就到我这里来喝吧！信我的人，就如经上所说的，从他的腹中将要涌流出活水的江河。”耶稣这话是指着信他的人所要领受的圣灵而说的。当时，圣灵还没有临到，因为耶稣还没有得荣耀。

求你教导我遵行你的旨意，因为你是我的神；愿你美好的灵引导我到平坦之地。

因为预言从来不是藉着人的意思传来的，而是人受圣灵的感动说出从神而来的话。

但如果有人喝了我给他的水，就绝不干渴，直到永远。不但如此，我给他的水将要在他里面成为泉源，一直涌流到永恒的生命。”

他打开磐石，水就涌出，在那干旱之地流淌如河；

耶稣回答她，说：“如果你明白神的恩赐，也知道是谁对你说‘给我一点水喝’，你早就求他了，他也把活水给你了。”

耶和华领他们走过荒漠的时候，他们并不口渴；他让水从磐石为他们流出，他使磐石裂开，水就涌出。

弟兄们，藉着我们的主耶稣基督、藉着圣灵的爱，我恳求你们与我一同竭力为我向神祷告：

那些困苦和贫穷的人寻找水，却没有水；他们的舌头因干渴而焦燥；我耶和华必回应他们，以色列的神必不离弃他们。我要在光秃的高地开江河，在山谷开泉源；我要使旷野成为水池，使干旱之地成为水源。
