於是我轉向主神，禁食，披麻蒙灰，藉祈禱和懇求尋求他。我向耶和華我的神禱告、認罪，說：“主啊！偉大可畏的神，你向那些愛你（“你”原文作“他”），遵守你（“你”原文作“他”）誡命的人守約施慈愛。我們犯了罪，行了不義，作了惡，背叛了你，偏離了你的誡命典章；沒有聽從你的僕人眾先知，他們奉你的名向我們的君王、領袖、列祖和國中所有的人民說話。主啊！你是公義的；我們滿面羞愧，正如今日的光景；我們猶大人、耶路撒冷的居民，和被你趕逐到遠近各地的以色列眾人，都因對你不忠而滿面羞愧。耶和華啊！我們和我們的君王、領袖、列祖，都滿面羞愧，因為我們得罪了你。雖然我們背叛了主我們的神，他仍是滿有憐憫和饒恕。我們沒有聽從耶和華我們神的話，沒有遵行他藉著他的僕人眾先知向我們頒布的律法。

他們以詭詐待耶和華，因為他們生了私生子。現在新月要吞滅他們和他們的地業。

求你側著耳，睜著眼的，垂聽你僕人的禱告，我今天在你面前晝夜為著你的僕人以色列人禱告，承認以色列人所犯的罪，就是我與我父的家向你所犯的罪。

禱告說：‘我的神啊，我感覺羞恥慚愧，不敢向我的神你仰面；因為我們的罪孽多至滅頂，我們的罪過滔天。從我們列祖的日子直到今日，我們罪惡深重，由於我們的罪孽，我們和我們的王，以及祭司，都被交在各地的列王手中：被刀殺、被擄掠、被搶奪，丟臉蒙羞，就像今天的光景一樣。

他們為自己和自己的兒子娶了這些外族的女子為妻，以致聖潔的種族與當地的民族混雜了；而領袖和官長竟是這不忠的事的罪魁。’

我們和我們的列祖都犯了罪，我們作了孽，也行了惡。我們的列祖在埃及的時候，不明白你的奇事，也不記念你豐盛的慈愛，反倒在紅海的海邊悖逆了你。

求你救拔我，從外族人的手裡拯救我；他們的口說虛謊的話，他們舉起右手起假誓。

你們剩下的人，必因自己的罪孽在仇敵之地消滅，也因犯了祖先的罪孽日漸衰弱。“那時他們就會承認自己的罪孽和他們祖先的罪孽，就是他們對我不忠的過犯，又承認因為行事與我的心意相違，

耶和華以色列的神啊，你是公義的！我們現今才可以留下，成為逃脫的人。看哪，我們在你面前是有罪過的，因此沒有人能在你面前站立得住。’”

我們若行在光中，像他在光中一樣，就彼此相通，他兒子耶穌的血也潔淨我們脫離一切罪。我們若說自己沒有罪，就是自欺，真理就不在我們裡面了。我們若承認自己的罪，神是信實的、公義的，必定赦免我們的罪，潔淨我們脫離一切不義。

求你從高天伸手救拔我，從大水之中，從外族人的手裡拯救我。

耶和華啊！你離棄了你的子民雅各家，是因為他們充滿了東方的迷信，和占卜的人，像非利士人一樣，並且與外族人擊掌交易。
