In their hunger you gave them bread from heaven and in their thirst you brought them water from the rock; you told them to go in and take possession of the land you had sworn with uplifted hand to give them.

When the people were hungry, you gave them bread from heaven. When they were thirsty, you brought them water out of a rock. You told them to go into the land of Canaan. You told them to take it as their own. It was the land you had promised to give them.

Also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all the lands,

Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of water.

Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written:‘ He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’ ”Jesus then said to them,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven.For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”Then they said to Him,“ Lord, always give us this bread.”Jesus said to them,“ I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty.

He who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions, and its thirsty ground where there was no water; He who brought water for you out of the rock of flint.In the wilderness it was He who fed you manna which your fathers did not know, in order to humble you and in order to put you to the test, to do good for you in the end.

And he said to them,“ Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring water for you out of this rock?”Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their livestock drank.But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,“ Since you did not trust in Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, for that reason you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”Those were called the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel argued with the Lord, and He proved Himself holy among them.

See, the Lord your God has placed the land before you; go up, take possession, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you. Do not fear or be dismayed.’

By no means will you come into the land where I swore to settle you, except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

“ Moses My servant is dead; so now arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.Every place on which the sole of your foot steps, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.

By Your power You have redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. SelahThe waters saw You, God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The ocean depths also trembled.The clouds poured out water; The skies sounded out; Your arrows flashed here and there.The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightning lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints were not known.You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
