The whole company that had returned from exile built temporary shelters and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated it like this. And their joy was very great.

All the people who had returned from the land of Babylon made booths. They lived in them during the Feast of Booths. They hadn’t celebrated the feast with so much joy for a long time. In fact, they had never celebrated it like that from the days of Joshua, the son of Nun, until that day. So their joy was very great.

And all the assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in the booths, for from the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the people of Israel had not done so. And there was very great rejoicing.

So everyone who had returned from captivity lived in these shelters during the festival, and they were all filled with great joy! The Israelites had not celebrated like this since the days of Joshua son of Nun.

所羅門與以色列眾、自哈馬道、至埃及溪、集為大會、守節期七日、第八日設肅會、以守別壇為聖之禮七日、又守節期七日、七月二十三日、王遣民眾、各歸其幕、因耶和華施恩於大衛、與所羅門、及其民以色列、皆中心歡悅焉、○

夫道成人身、寓我儕中、充以恩寵真理、我儕見其榮、如天父獨生子之榮焉、

是日於耶和華前、式飲式食、喜樂不勝、復立大衛子所羅門為王、膏之歸耶和華為君、亦膏撒督為祭司、

自先知撒母耳以來、在以色列、未嘗守如是之逾越節、以色列列王守逾越節、未有若約西亞、與祭司利未人、及同在之猶大與以色列眾、並耶路撒冷居民所守者、

在耶路撒冷之以色列人、遂大歡樂、守除酵節七日、利未人及祭司、操聲宏之樂器、日頌耶和華、利未人通達耶和華之役事、希西家以善言慰藉之、於是民食節肉、獻酬恩祭、稱謝其列祖之上帝耶和華、凡歷七日、會眾相議更守七日、於是欣然守之、

以信而旅於所許之地、如在異地、偕共承上帝所許之以撒雅各居於幕、

儻約書亞曾以安息賜之、則後必不復言他日矣、

在耶路撒冷有大樂焉、自以色列王大衛子所羅門時以來、未有若此者也、

此皆有信而死、未得所許、惟遙望而迎之、自謂在世為賓旅、為寄寓者、
